Tender award soon for $1bn Grand Egyptian Museum

EHAF is to decide the winning tender for the $1bn Grand Egyptian Museum in the next two months, according to a senior executive.

“We have been in the process of tendering for the last four months and have selected four out of ten from the pre-qualification,” said Mohamed Fahmy, partner and vice president of the engineering consultant, which is working with Hill on the project.

The mega project, situated in Giza, will be a centre of Egyptology and comprise 150,000 artefacts, what will be the biggest collection in the world. The project attracted the biggest architectural competition in the world, with 1,557 design from 63 countries, under the patronage of UNESCO and the UIA.
