Educational Programmes for primary school children, 2009-2010

Within the framework of cultural and education actions, H.S.S.A.E. is presenting a series of educational programmes on various aspects of the Egyptian civilization. The programmes are taking place on the second Saturday of each month from December 2009 until May 2010.

Saturday 12 December: «Toutankhamon the shining prince»

Saturday 9 January: «Pyramids: Mystery graves»

Saturday 13 February: «School-pupil-teacher: how to write in hieroglyphics»

Saturday 13 March: «Akhenaten-Nefertiti: the heretic pharaoh with the beautiful wife »

Saturday 17 April: «The everyday life on the banks of the Nile»

Saturday 15 May: «Gods, Animals or Animal Gods»

The central character of the programs is the puppet Halaoua and her 4 cheeky children. Guest star is the well known Water Bubble who joins the puppet show. She uses her flamboyant nature to introduce the children into the magical world of ancient Egypt. This is followed by Egyptian story readings and games that sharpen children's imagination and the inventiveness. Accompanied by Egyptian music and guided by Mrs Gialouraki, children travel in a world of myth.

Sofia Gialouraki has studied archeology in Egypt. She is a writer, encourager of educational programs in the Cycladic Art Musuem. She is also a member of ICOM.

Vasilis Chrysikopoulos is a Doctor in Egyptology and teaches in the Department of History and Archeology at the University of Ioannina.

Location, dates and timetables of the educational seminars
The presentations for children and adults will commence in December 2009 on the second Saturday of each month at 10.30am-12.00pm. They will take place at the main hall of the Lilian Lykou Pre-school Educational Center, 4 Filoktitou Street, Vyronas, 162 32, tel. 210-76.22.100.

Please note the bookings are essential by calling at 6950-07.64.48. The program commences at 10.30am.
Ticket Price: Euros 7 per child, with free entrance for any accompanying adults
