Egypt: back to excavations!

Several foreign missions had halted their operations in Egypt in light of the January 25 revolution and the security void that followed the 18-day protests which toppled the regime of Hosni Mubarak. Many foreign embassies had asked their missions to leave Egypt.

Ismail told Al-Masry Al-Youm independent daily that the restoration of security and stability in Egypt reflected positively on the work of foreign missions, adding that the SCA has recently received requests for 15 new foreign missions from the US, Italy and Germany to excavate archeological sites.
